Preparing the paper…

How the paper moves

A physical simulation pulls mountain and valley creases toward their target angles while resisting stretched edges and bent faces. The slider scales target fold angles; the paper settles over time. Geometry can pass through itself: this solver does not prevent collisions.

Moving the slider or a preset resumes paused physics. Save image downloads the current view as a PNG. Space: pause physics. Left/right arrows: change fold amount. R: reset paper. All patterns and assets are local.

Source & credits

Adapted from OrigamiSimulator by Amanda Ghassaei (MIT). Retains its WebGL physical solver, mesh construction and crease parser, with a new focused interface and seven bundled geometric patterns. Generated washi artwork is mapped to the actual folding paper.
